'Tis the season to be silly tra la la la laa laa laa laaa

The silly season is creeping up on us once again. Everyone gets an extra bit of money at this time and suddenly they're off - dashing around over-crowded shopping malls as fast as their little legs can carry them. Madly buying gifts for family and friends (and a few enemies) in preparation for the Big Day when the family descends to sit around the dining room table and eat and drink until they can eat and drink no more. Humans are peculiar creatures...

I was in Oxford during the last silly season where despite the freezing air, howling wind and icy rain, the people crowded the streets like millions of little ants - ten times more crowded than anything we experience here. Thankfully, I was able to recuperate from being over-peopled when I left for Namaqualand for nine months. The air is clean and dry (humidity lives at around 0%), the bush is filled with interesting little plants and animals and there isn't a single mall within a 300km radius. Awesome, isn't it?

Hey! this blogging thing blogs my mind - don't think I've got the whole idea of it! Is this just another version of email/facebook where everyone gets to see what I'm writing on your wall? Oh well -different strokes for different folks! but I'll participate! Also whee do you get all this time from - I battle to keep up with a facebook wall let alone another thing called a "blog"!

Tend to agree with you and this silly season thing- had to go to mall to sort out something for my mom - got there 10mins before the shops opened and left about an hr later and it was already madness - thats why I'm going back to the bush for 3weeks now - need to revive some sanity back into my life although- it is gonna be an absolute scortcher having a nice Zululand summer in the bush.
